NAIMA Presents 3E Plus® At NAESCO Conference

Cottrell Delivers Presentation on How Energy Service Companies Can Benefit From This Valuable Program

Chicago, IL (May 29, 2002) — Charles Cottrell, Director of Technical Services at the North American Insulation Manufacturers Association (NAIMA), delivered a presentation to attendees at the 2002 National Association of Energy Service Companies (NAESCO) in Chicago on May 16, 2002. His comments centered on the 3E Plus program and how it can make energy service professionals more effective, efficient, and profitable. Utilizing technology tools such as 3E Plus®, NAESCO members can improve distributed energy resources (DER) project performance.

"This is an ideal audience for information on 3E Plus. NAESCO members make their living delivering energy savings to their customers, and the 3E Plus program can help them provide superior service and differentiate themselves in the marketplace" said Cottrell. "3E Plus can help them quickly and accurately calculate energy, environmental, and cost savings obtained through increased insulation thicknesses."

During his presentation, Cottrell noted that 3E Plus can be used to help energy service professionals determine where additional insulation will be most effective in improving thermal efficiency of pipes, boilers, tanks and ducts. By calculating the potential energy and cost savings, users can gauge the return on investment for insulation upgrades. Many insulation upgrades, Cottrell noted, have a payback period of less than a year and will continue to deliver savings for the life of the system.

NAESCO members develop, install, and finance projects designed to improve the energy efficiency and maintenance costs for facilities over a seven to 10 year period. 3E Plus allows users to ascertain the savings accrued over time from insulation upgrades, making this program particularly useful.

For free downloads of 3E Plus and other valuable information, Mr. Cottrell directed attendees to the www.pipeinsulation.org web site. The web site features case studies for 3E Plus, a photo essay of 3E Plus use in the field, user manuals, a list of state and utility incentive programs for commercial and industrial insulation, and links to the National Insulation Association’s Insulation Energy Appraisal Program.
